MALVERN PRIORY ORGANIST VACANCY
Role of Organist
1. To play the organ as directed for services and choir practices.
2. To deputize for the Director of Music at practices of both the junior and senior choirs and the Priory Singers when required to do so.
3. To play at civic and other special services as required.
4. To play at weddings and funerals and other services as agreed (separate fees payable).
5. To contribute to the annual programme of organ recitals – planning and playing.
6. To be responsible for overseeing the ongoing maintenance of the organ.
7. To encourage, nurture, and help train any young organists attached to the Priory.
8. To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post.
Person Specification for post of Organist
We are looking for a church musician who meets the following essential criteria:
1. Someone who regards the ministry of music as his/her Christian vocation.
2. Someone who would be wholeheartedly committed to supporting and furthering the mission and ministry of Malvern Priory as detailed in the vision statement .
3. Someone who is a competent organist, and therefore is able to make good use of the Priory organ.
4. Someone who has proven ability, sensitivity, and experience in playing the organ to accompany singing in worship.
5. Someone who has proven ability, experience, and interpersonal skills in working with choirs of adults and children.
6. Enhanced CRB Disclosure.
Remuneration will be based on RSCM guidelines, depending on experience and the agreed final job description. The post of Organist is renewable on an annual basis, when there will also be an annual review conducted either by the Vicar, or by one of the Churchwardens.
