MALVERN PRIORY VISION STATEMENT

The Priory seeks to be a community which responds to God’s love in worship welcomes all in the name of Jesus Christ and reaches out in the power of the Spirit

A WORSHIPPING COMMUNITY
The Priory seeks to be a people of all ages who respond to God’s love in praise and thanksgiving.

It is our aim:
• Primarily to glorify, honour and serve God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit
• To nurture both corporate and individual worship
• To be Bible and Sacrament based
• To draw on resources from our rich Anglican heritage and from contemporary expressions of worship
• To provide opportunities for worship in a variety of styles
• To worship with other churches, both Anglican and inter-denominational, on suitable occasions
• To extend worship beyond the boundaries of the building to those physically unable to be present at public worship
• To facilitate Christian worship, when appropriate, for specific groups
• To encourage all to offer our best to God in our worship, by training and equipping for various ministries
• To use the building creatively in our worship
• To make our whole lives an offering of worship, holy and pleasing to God

A WELCOMING COMMUNITY
The Priory seeks, as part of God’s family, to extend an appropriate and sensitive welcome to all.

It is our aim:
• To make the first point of contact welcoming and positive
• To provide clear and accessible ‘ways in’ to the Priory
• To offer appropriate information, for all ages, on both the history of the church and the living church now
• To extend a Benedictine welcome : a holistic approach that includes hospitality and prayer
• To welcome community use of the church building and facilities when appropriate
• To help both regular and visiting worshippers, of all stages, to feel at ease and able to participate
• To encourage all within the church to extend a Christ-like welcome to others
• To ensure that the welcome is real and ongoing, encouraging one another’s Christian growth – individually and corporately

• To welcome all-comers not just to the Priory, but to God’s Kingdom - to a pilgrimage of discipleship and faith, journeying together in the love, joy and pastoral care of Christ

A WITNESSING COMMUNITY
The Priory seeks, as part of the Body of Christ, to reach out with the Good News of God’s love and truth -locally, nationally and worldwide.

It is our aim:
• To proclaim the Gospel truth of the Kingdom come on earth as in heaven : both the reality of heaven and transforming power for the here and now
• To acknowledge our responsibility to nurture the Christian faith amongst our own church family as well as
in the wider community
• To hand on faithfully to succeeding generations the Gospel truth we have received
• To recognise that we are witnessing for Christ at all times, whoever and wherever we are
• To co-operate, where possible, with other churches and Christians in evangelism
• To witness to God’s care for all creation through our actions and our social and environmental concern
• To use different methods and media to engage with different groups of people
• To encourage, and be encouraged by, our support of link missionaries / churches / organisations
• To look for opportunities to communicate the gospel both through our regular mission and ministry, and through special events
• To recognise that pastoral care for one another and for those in the wider community is also part of our witness
